Business Consultant - Insurance, Worksite, & Institutional Technology (Insurance)

Salary: $92,800–$121,800 annually

What you will do

• Gather, analyze, document, validate, and maintain business and systems requirements for insurance product development initiatives.
• Translate product strategies, business rules, operational needs, and regulatory considerations into functional requirements, user stories, use cases, process flows, data requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• Analyze upstream, downstream, data, integration, operational, reporting, and customer-experience impacts across the insurance technology ecosystem.
• Partner with product owners, architects, engineering, QA, vendors, and platform teams to evaluate solution options, dependencies, assumptions, and design decisions.
• Facilitate discovery sessions, requirements reviews, process walkthroughs, design discussions, defect triage, and sign-off preparation.
• Support UAT and end-to-end testing, maintain traceability, manage requirement changes, and communicate risks, decisions, and readiness throughout delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 5 years of experience in business analysis, business systems analysis, product analysis, systems analysis, or a related technology delivery role.
• At least 2 years of experience supporting insurance technology initiatives, preferably involving life, annuity, disability, underwriting, policy administration, product administration, illustrations, billing, or claims.
• Knowledge of insurance product development, product specifications, regulatory impacts, and product launch readiness.
• Experience with software delivery lifecycles, requirements documentation, integrations, testing, implementation, and production support.
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Visio, Miro, Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, or comparable tools.

Nice to have

• 7 or more years of progressive business analysis or business systems analysis experience.
• Experience with Agile, hybrid, and waterfall delivery models, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, release planning, and governance.
• Experience working with third-party vendors, managed service partners, enterprise shared services, and distributed delivery teams.
• Professional certification such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, CSPO, SAFe, or Six Sigma.
