TL;DR
Hardware Product Development Manager (Aerospace) (Embedded Computing): Leading the development of new rugged electronic products and supporting existing product lines with an accent on team leadership, embedded computing architectures, testing, and aerospace requirements. Focus on defining architectures, solving complex engineering problems, coordinating cross-functional development, and ensuring compliance with standards such as DO-254 and IPC.

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 119,500–152,650 annually, plus bonus opportunity

What you will do

  • Lead a team of Hardware Engineers developing new products and supporting existing product lines.
  • Plan and oversee product development activities to meet business and customer objectives.
  • Supervise project assignments, clarify team responsibilities, and support career development, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Review testing protocols and results to verify product functionality and compliance with accepted standards.
  • Contribute to bids and projects by defining architectures, preparing technical proposals, and estimating costs and schedules.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, NPI, Customer Support, Sales, Marketing, customers, and third-party partners on technical solutions and cross-site initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Technologist Diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of industry experience related to electronics computing.
  • Experience leading or managing engineering teams, with the ability to mentor staff and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detailed knowledge of embedded computing systems architecture, hardware, software, and related support requirements in the military or aerospace industry.
  • Ability to estimate and schedule development projects and solve unprecedented engineering problems using sound engineering judgment.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction, accountability, process improvement, and results-oriented teamwork.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing electronic assemblies for aerospace applications, including rugged-environment design and design-for-manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of VME, VPX, XMC, PMC, Intel, NXP or Qualcomm processors, Broadcom Ethernet switches, and high-end FPGA design.
  • Experience with PCI Express, 40GbE Ethernet, USB 3, DDR4, PCB stack-up and material selection, IPC standards, product configuration management, or DO-254 safety certification.
