Test Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Prepare, execute, and troubleshoot weekly flight test operations for a sub-scale airship model.
• Conduct hardware-in-the-loop laboratory testing to validate flight software and hardware integrations.
• Analyze flight logs and test data to provide performance insights to GNC and sub-scale simulation models.
• Design and iterate lightweight structural components for the Baby Airship.
• Develop flight control logic, telemetry processing, or embedded systems using C++ and Python.
• Author flight test plans and analyze vehicle dynamics in collaboration with GNC engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in aerospace, robotics, or high-reliability hardware environments.
• Proficiency in Python or C++.
• Hands-on experience with PX4 Flight Control Software and CAN communication protocols.
• Working knowledge of DC motors and ESC hardware.
• Familiarity with standard CAD software.
• Ability to work in a rapid build-test-fail-fix cycle with strong cross-functional communication.

Nice to have

• Experience piloting drones or UAVs or working in flight test operations.
• Experience troubleshooting low-level electrical hardware issues.
• Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink for system modeling.
