TL;DR
Development Test Engineer II (Aerospace): Designing, commissioning, and operating test fixtures and campaigns for next-generation in-space mobility systems with an accent on fluid, cryogenic, high-pressure, environmental, mechanical, and structural testing. Focus on troubleshooting live test events, analyzing data, integrating instrumentation and DAQ systems, and maturing early-stage designs into flight-ready hardware.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

  • Design, build, and commission test fixtures for fluid, cryogenic, high-pressure, cyclic, environmental, mechanical, and structural testing.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze test campaigns for in-space mobility systems.
  • Set up and operate live test events safely, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with design, analysis, manufacturing, and operations teams to improve testability and accelerate feedback cycles.
  • Prepare technical documentation and communicate test results.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience testing aerospace or spaceflight hardware such as propulsion systems, structures, mechanisms, or avionics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Understanding of mechanical, propulsion, fluid, or structural systems.
  • Strong data analysis skills using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on laboratory or test-stand hardware experience and the ability to manage multiple test campaigns.
  • Must meet U.S. Government ITAR requirements through U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • 5 or more years of aerospace or spaceflight hardware testing experience.
  • Experience with high-pressure fluid systems, cryogenics, hazardous test operations, instrumentation, DAQ systems, and sensor integration.
  • Experience developing test plans, automating test setups with NI, LabVIEW, PLCs, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, FEA/CFD results, and system requirements.
  • Experience in fast-paced R&D or startup environments.
