Senior Design Release Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance required at least 3 times per week. Travel is required at less than 25%. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits, and relocation costs are the candidate’s responsibility.

What you will do

• Lead the Product Development Team for steering system components.
• Manage the design, release, and integration of steering components into vehicle systems.
• Complete program ICDs, DFMEAs, peer reviews, and design validation activities.
• Oversee pre-production builds and ensure test-ready component delivery against program milestones.
• Use FEA, modal analysis, virtual builds, math data, and trade-off studies to support engineering decisions.
• Lead supplier and cross-functional technical reviews, resolve design issues, and monitor warranty-related problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 5 years of relevant post-graduation experience.
• Knowledge of engineering theory, design principles, system integration, manufacturing processes, and engineering operations.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and specification and release systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, independent-working, collaboration, and supplier-engagement skills.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to operate a motor vehicle daily, and ability to travel.

Nice to have

• Previous experience as a Design Release Engineer.
• DFSS certification.
