TL;DR
Engineer, Interior / Electrical Accessory Development (Automotive): Designing, releasing, and validating interior and electrical accessories for electric pickup trucks and rugged SUVs from concept through production with an accent on vehicle integration, CAD packaging, supplier development, and validation. Focus on leading cross-functional product development, solving complex mechanical and electrical interface challenges, and meeting safety, quality, cost, timing, and weight targets.

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; four days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing electrified and digitized pickup trucks and rugged SUVs based on an iconic American vehicle brand, including all-electric and range-extender powertrains.

What you will do

  • Design, release, and validate interior and electrical accessories for on-road and off-road applications from concept through production.
  • Define vehicle, mechanical, electrical, and logical interfaces and maintain component and subsystem requirements, specifications, and interface control documents.
  • Lead RFQ packages, technical reviews, supplier selection, and cross-functional product development teams.
  • Direct CAD design, 3D packaging, analytical validation using CAE methods such as FEA and CFD, and prototype development for virtual, physical, and field testing.
  • Develop and maintain specification books, test plans, DVP&R, DFMEA, control plans, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Track issues and program targets, conduct prototype and pre-production design reviews, and ensure validation coverage, traceability, manufacturability, serviceability, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 5–8 years of experience in automotive design and release of functional components and systems integration across design, validation, launch, and post-launch phases.
  • Experience with CATIA, detailed part development, computer-aided engineering, dimensional management, GD&T, and automotive design and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, Six Sigma, 8D problem solving, certification testing, DFM, variation analysis, APQP/PPAP, and design for service.
  • Experience with assembly plant launches, functional safety including ISO 26262, electrical components, and embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal structures, metal stampings, injection-molded components, foaming processes, and cut-and-sew manufacturing.
