Senior Quantum Applications Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Base pay: USD 125,000–187,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, and rigorously test quantum applications with research and engineering teams.
• Develop algorithms for chemistry, materials science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, finance, and cryptography.
• Explore applications spanning post-NISQ systems through fault-tolerant commercial quantum computing.
• Identify algorithms that maximize the value of quantum hardware while accounting for its features and constraints.
• Implement and support quantum simulation features.
• Collaborate with quantum engineers to execute applications on quantum hardware.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in physics, chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a related field, specializing in quantum computing; equivalent industry experience is also considered.
• At least 5 years of experience developing, simulating, and deploying quantum algorithms, including NISQ algorithms.
• At least 3 years of experience with Python or another general-purpose programming language and a record of shipping production-quality code.
• Expertise with a quantum computing SDK such as Qiskit, PennyLane, or CUDA Quantum, plus strong knowledge of quantum computing and quantum information science.
• Hands-on experience in at least one application area, such as quantum chemistry, machine learning, finance, optimization, or cryptography.
• Strong software engineering, communication, collaboration, code review, version control, and CI/CD skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted software development using LLM-based coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT Codex.
