Develops quantum computing hardware and software for advancing quantum algorithms and real-world applications.

What you will do

  • Conduct research on quantum algorithms focused on topological and geometric invariants of data.
  • Develop mathematical frameworks to improve resource efficiency and error robustness.
  • Design, implement, and optimize algorithms on simulators and quantum hardware.
  • Estimate end-to-end algorithm resources under realistic hardware constraints and apply error mitigation and quantum error correction.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and quantum error correction researchers, as well as academic and industry partners.
  • Communicate results through scientific publications, conferences, and internal presentations.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent experience in physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Research experience in quantum algorithms, ideally including quantum topological data analysis or quantum error correction.
  • Research track record demonstrated through publications in quantum algorithms, computational topology, or related areas.
  • Hands-on experience implementing quantum algorithms on quantum hardware.
  • Strong understanding of quantum error correction and algebraic topology.
  • Programming experience in Python or another high-level language, with familiarity with frameworks such as pytket, Guppy, or Qiskit.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work in a hybrid arrangement from London or Cambridge.
  • Collaborate across the full quantum computing stack.
  • Engage with academic and industry partners on near-term quantum applications.
  • Publish research in leading scientific journals and present at international conferences.
