Senior SMT Operator (SMT)

What you will do

• Set up, operate, monitor, and optimize SMT production equipment, including screen printers, SPI systems, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, conveyors, and automated inspection equipment.
• Perform product changeovers, feeder setup, machine programming verification, and line qualifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment, material, and process issues while improving throughput, utilization, yield, and quality.
• Support manufacturing and process engineering teams with process validation, continuous improvement, and NPI builds.
• Train and mentor SMT operators on equipment operation, setup procedures, quality standards, and best practices.
• Maintain production records, perform calibration verification and preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with ESD, safety, quality, and traceability requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 5 years of SMT manufacturing experience, including 3 years setting up and operating SMT production equipment in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
• Advanced knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes, electronic assembly, solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, and inspection methods.
• Ability to interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, bills of material, and process documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting machines, feeders, components, and production processes.
• Familiarity with AOI, SPI, ERP or MES systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in electronics, manufacturing technology, industrial technology, or a related technical discipline.
• IPC-A-610 certification or knowledge of IPC workmanship standards.
• Experience with Fuji, Yamaha, ASM, Panasonic, Universal, Juki, or similar SMT equipment.
• Experience with NPI, process validation, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement.
• Experience training or mentoring operators and optimizing component packaging, feeder systems, and production lines.
