Location: Hybrid field role based in Michigan, with field locations in Detroit, Chicago, and Minneapolis. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PM EST, with possible weekend work, travel outside the assigned territory, and occasional overnight stays. Remote work from a home office is available for day-to-day operations, with travel to homes, repair facilities, and other field locations as required. Relocation may be required.
Salary: $70,000-$85,000 annually, plus an annual company bonus incentive and additional catastrophe-unit compensation.

What you will do
- Review assigned catastrophe claims, contact insureds and affected parties, set expectations, and document claim activity.
- Conduct on-site inspections, investigate claim facts, evaluate damage and loss values, and prepare estimates using claims software.
- Perform complex coverage analysis, determine applicable benefits, limits, exclusions, state law, and recovery potential.
- Negotiate settlements, approve appropriate payments, and create additional sub-claims when needed.
- Refer claims to underwriting, recovery, or special investigation units and complete claim closure activities.
- Monitor contractor repairs when necessary and assist with file reviews and training.
Requirements
- Three years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimating, subrogation, coverage resolution, statements, and claim planning.
- Completion of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Eligibility to obtain a required state adjuster license within 90 days of hire and maintain it as required.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for field inspections.
- Advanced knowledge of Michigan's Essential Insurance Act, fair trade practices related to claims, subrogation, intercompany arbitration, simple litigation, and building construction and repair techniques.
- Ability to travel outside the assigned territory, work evenings or weekends, analyze time-sensitive information, negotiate, and manage multiple claims.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in business administration, insurance, claims, management, or a related field.
- CPCU coursework or designation, Insurance Institute of America General Insurance Program, or Xactware training.
- One to two years of full-cycle homeowners claims experience, including personal property, additional living expense, water loss, fire, or smoke claims.
- Ability to walk on roofs, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds.
