Claims Specialist (Commercial Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; some travel capability, likely up to 10%.

Salary: $100,000–$143,000 USD annual base salary, plus potential performance-based incentives.

What you will do

• Manage, investigate, adjudicate, and resolve high-severity and high-complexity commercial claims within prescribed authority levels.
• Interpret policy documents and legal contracts, analyze coverage issues, and apply insurance, civil, vehicle, arbitration, tort, and claims-handling regulations.
• Handle General Liability and Casualty litigation, including mediations, trials, and alternative dispute resolution.
• Communicate with policyholders, witnesses, claimants, attorneys, medical professionals, and independent field adjusters.
• Set and revise case reserves, identify suspicious claims and subrogation opportunities, and refer potential fraud to SIU.
• Present claim files at authority reviews and roundtables, provide peer guidance, and advise leadership on claim activities and exposures.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree required; advanced studies or an insurance designation preferred.
• At least 15 years of directly related experience with Commercial General Liability and litigation.
• In-depth knowledge of multi-jurisdictional claims-handling issues and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Must have or be able to promptly obtain a Texas Independent Adjuster License.
• Strong communication, analytical, investigative, negotiation, presentation, and persuasion skills.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate cross-functionally, adapt to evolving claims technology, and meet quality and performance standards.
