Business Systems Analyst (SQL/Data Integration)

What you will do

• Analyze external data sources for structure, quality, completeness, delivery formats, and alignment with internal standards.
• Define extraction, ingestion, source-to-target mapping, normalization, file-merging, and transformation requirements.
• Collaborate with developers and QA on ETL/ELT components, testing, deployments, and post-production monitoring.
• Validate data in lower environments and use SQL to investigate discrepancies, anomalies, unmapped values, and processing issues.
• Maintain lookup tables, mapping logic, configurations, and versioned integration documentation.
• Communicate timelines, risks, findings, and impacts with Product Owners and technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or in a similar technical, data-focused role.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Experience analyzing raw data and defining transformation requirements for system-ready outputs.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex data issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
• Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams in Agile environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with data ingestion pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, or legacy database environments.
• Exposure to flat-file ingestion, API-based retrieval, or web-based data extraction.
• Knowledge of data governance practices.
• Experience with insurance, financial, medical, or other regulated datasets.
