Software Engineer L2-Messaging API (Go/Java)

Location: Remote in the United States; not eligible for hiring in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, or surrounding areas. Occasional travel may be required for project or team meetings.

Estimated annual pay: $116,960–$146,200 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.; $123,760–$154,700 in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, and California outside the San Francisco Bay Area; $137,520–$171,900 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, build, release, and operate software for the communications platform.
• Build backend services and APIs in collaboration with a small team.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality.
• Support production operations and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Create clear and concise technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Go or Java.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
• Must be hired in the United States; hiring is excluded in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and surrounding areas.

Nice to have

• Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to work across multiple programming languages and frameworks.
• Experience with Temporal.
