Software Engineer - Apollo Systems (Kubernetes)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid workplace

Salary: $145,000–$200,000 per year, plus potential restricted stock units, sign-on bonus, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Build and operate highly available systems that orchestrate software deployment across hundreds of production environments.
• Develop backup and restore solutions for Kubernetes clusters and portable, high-performance cluster-state artifacts.
• Build and optimize the OCI-based container artifact store used across cloud, on-premises, air-gapped, and regulated environments.
• Develop performance-sensitive storage features and debug complex issues across the infrastructure stack, including open-source components.
• Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to solve cross-functional infrastructure problems and support the full development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development experience in core infrastructure, with emphasis on operational excellence.
• 2+ years contributing to system design or architecture, including reliability and scaling.
• Strong systems programming experience with Go, Java, or an equivalent language.
• Familiarity with Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration at scale.
• Experience building high-quality software in a fast-paced CI/CD environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with hosted container registries such as Amazon ECR, Google Artifact Registry, or Azure Container Registry.
• Familiarity with the OCI Distribution Specification and registry projects such as Distribution or Harbor.
• Experience designing, building, and operating high-scale observability or infrastructure systems.
