TL;DR
Senior Harness Engineer (Spacecraft) (Electrical Interconnects): Designing and delivering spacecraft harnesses for power, data, RF, and GPU/compute subsystems from architecture through manufacturing, testing, and vehicle integration with an accent on high-current power distribution, CAD routing, connector selection, and production documentation. Focus on resolving electrical-mechanical interfaces, scaling harness production, investigating anomalies, and ensuring harnesses fit and pass testing during integration.
Location: Redmond, Washington, United States. The role requires working on the production floor and supporting vehicle integration in cleanroom environments. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or eligible for authorization under U.S. export regulations.
Company
is developing orbital data centers that use near-continuous solar power and radiative cooling to scale AI computing in space.
What you will do
- Own spacecraft electrical interconnect architecture for power, data, RF, and GPU/compute subsystems.
- Create harness schematics, wire lists, connector selections, derating analyses, shielding and grounding schemes, and routing constraints.
- Model 3D harness routes in CAD and coordinate clearances, clamps, service loops, and keep-outs with mechanical and structures engineers.
- Release drawings, build books, from/to lists, inspection criteria, and interface control documentation.
- Plan and support harness sourcing, kitting, manufacturing, technician training, first-article inspections, and non-conformance resolution.
- Support continuity, hipot, insulation-resistance, and functional testing, vehicle integration, launch campaigns, and on-orbit anomaly investigations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience designing and building electrical wire harnesses for spacecraft, launch vehicles, aircraft, automotive, or similar high-reliability hardware.
- Hands-on experience taking harnesses from schematic through fabrication, installation, and testing.
- Proficiency with at least one 3D CAD package and one electrical or harness design tool.
- Knowledge of spaceflight harness standards, space-rated wire and connector families, EMI/EMC, ESD, radiation, thermal, and vibration considerations.
- Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements. Must be able to work extended hours and weekends when needed, lift up to 25 lbs, and work in production and cleanroom environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with high-power distribution, high-speed data, shielding, and grounding practices.
- Experience scaling harnesses from prototype to production, including design for manufacturability and supplier management.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 or NASA 8739.4 certification, with hands-on crimping, soldering, and inspection experience.
- Experience supporting vehicle integration and launch campaigns.
Culture & Benefits
- Fast-paced startup environment with ambiguity, tight schedules, and rapidly evolving designs.
- Hands-on collaboration across electrical, mechanical, structures, manufacturing, and integration teams.
- Opportunity to establish harness standards, libraries, and production processes for scaling spacecraft manufacturing.
- Work focused on advancing orbital computing and space-based energy infrastructure.
