Wire Harness Design Engineer (Aviation and Space)

Location: Tempe, Arizona or Carlsbad, California; US citizenship required

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

• Design cables and wire harnesses for aviation and space products.
• Generate wire lists, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and related design documentation.
• Specify connector and wire types while applying electrical, mechanical, and EMI design principles.
• Develop sophisticated cable and harness design packages and support manufacturable product development.
• Work with systems, electrical, test, and operations engineering teams.
• Participate in technical discussions and help identify critical components, design features, and challenges.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related experience in aviation and/or space applications.
• Associate of Science degree in technology or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong practical experience with SolidWorks or other CAD-based wire harness design tools.
• Understanding of electrical schematics and IPC/WHMA-A-620 industry standards.
• Experience creating fabrication drawings, BOMs, fabrication processes, and standardization documentation.
• US citizenship is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience with cable and harness fabrication, 3D routing, Creo, NX, or Siemens Capital.
• Experience generating internal cable and harness specifications.
• Ability to mentor and guide junior designers.
