Wire Harness Designer (Aerospace)

Location: United States; ITAR eligibility required, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

What you will do

• Create and maintain schematics, wire diagrams, 3D routing models, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
• Define harness routing, wire gauges, shielding, grounding, derating, connector selection, and EMI/EMC considerations with engineering teams.
• Integrate harness designs into vehicle CAD models and verify fit, form, and installation clearances.
• Support prototyping and flight hardware builds by resolving design issues and updating documentation.
• Manage drawing revisions and configuration control across multiple platforms.
• Maintain CAD libraries for interconnect symbols, parts, connector families, and metadata.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as an aerospace technician, preferably in research and development or manufacturing.
• Understanding of aerospace wiring harness assemblies, connector selection, shielding, grounding, harness protection, and installation practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, documentation discipline, and configuration control skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, technical certification, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD, 2D drafting, and PLM/PDM tools such as Siemens NX, Capital, and Teamcenter.
• Experience routing harnesses for aerospace or high-reliability vehicles.
• Knowledge of FAA, NASA, MIL-STD, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
• Programming or automation skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript.
