TL;DR
Test Engineer (Aerospace) (Python/Rust/C++): Developing integrated electrical and RF test systems, automation software, and hardware-in-the-loop simulators for phased-array ground station infrastructure with an accent on production test scalability, reliability, and environmental qualification. Focus on designing test fixtures and ATE systems, integrating hardware and software, and solving complex mixed-signal, digital, and RF-adjacent issues.

Location: Torrance, California, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility for required U.S. Department of State authorizations is required under ITAR regulations.

Salary: $118,400–$170,000 per year, depending on level, role, location, and experience. Equity and discretionary performance bonuses are also offered.

What you will do

  • Lead integrated test development from concept through production, including test strategies, requirements, and execution plans.
  • Design electrical and RF test systems, fixtures, harnesses, interfaces, and rack integrations.
  • Develop modular test automation frameworks, drivers, and tooling in Python, Rust, and C++ on Linux.
  • Create device and subsystem simulators for hardware-in-the-loop and automated integration testing.
  • Own test asset calibration, maintenance, debugging, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support thermal, vibration, shock, and other environmental qualification testing.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, and Rust, with experience in Linux environments.
  • Hands-on experience with power supplies, DC loads, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and network analyzers.
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated electronics, including mixed-signal, digital, or RF-adjacent systems.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements for U.S. Government space technology.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 vibration, shock, and thermal test methods.
  • Experience designing and scaling PXI, USB/LXI, or custom ATE systems into production.
  • Experience building hardware abstraction layers, driver libraries, and test sequencing frameworks.
  • Experience with firmware bring-up, I2C, SPI, UART, fault injection, and telemetry capture.
