Staff Automation Engineer (Hardware Testing)

What you will do

• Co-design test automation infrastructure with Systems and Test Infrastructure teams.
• Diagnose automated test failures across firmware, hardware, and test infrastructure.
• Manage and expand a fleet of more than 50 hardware test rigs across offices.
• Monitor the health of hardware and software infrastructure.
• Own the architecture of critical systems such as hardware-in-the-loop execution, test data pipelines, and test execution frameworks.
• Integrate physical hardware testing with CI/CD for pull-request gating and release qualification.

Requirements

• Strong experience building reliable tools and services in Python.
• Ability to read and reason about C++, Rust, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience with software that controls, monitors, or ingests data from physical devices or instruments.
• Experience owning internal platform infrastructure used by engineers and operating in a critical path.
• Experience operating CI/CD pipelines that run on physical hardware.
• Experience in at least one focus area: hardware-in-the-loop and embedded testing; telemetry data pipelines; or RPC, instrumentation, and automated test-rig frameworks.

• Startup experience.
• Renewable energy industry experience.
• Ansible or similar configuration-management experience for physical infrastructure.
• Experience with rapid or continuous release cadences.
