What you will do

• Design and release production-ready body, joint, and structural systems for the NEO humanoid robot.
• Develop compact electromechanical joint architectures integrating actuation, bearings, transmissions, sensing, electronics, cabling, and structural interfaces.
• Improve mass, stiffness, strength, range of motion, packaging, durability, serviceability, cost, and manufacturability through iterative design.
• Build and test prototypes, use robot data to identify failure modes, and implement design improvements.
• Define engineering requirements, tolerance analyses, test methods, and validation plans.
• Support prototype builds, design validation, NPI, and production ramp while collaborating with controls, electrical, manufacturing, reliability, quality, and supply chain teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing complex mechanical or electromechanical products.
• Strong experience with mechanisms, structural components, precision assemblies, or robotic systems.
• Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD and ownership of complex mechanical assemblies from concept through released drawings.
• Experience with statics, dynamics, materials, fatigue, friction, fasteners, bearings, tolerance analysis, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and production documentation.
• Experience designing for machining, casting, molding, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, and other production processes, as well as building and testing prototypes.

Nice to have

• Experience designing robotic actuators, joints, transmissions, humanoid robots, or motion-control hardware.
• Experience with electric motors, gearboxes, belt or cable transmissions, bearings, encoders, torque sensing, or brakes.
• Experience with FEA, fatigue analysis, structural optimization, thermal analysis, dynamic loading, shock, vibration, or high-duty-cycle hardware.
• Experience with lightweight structures, complex packaging, mechanical test fixtures, life-cycle tests, or reliability validation systems.
• Experience supporting hardware through design validation, reliability testing, NPI, and production ramp-up.
