Data Acquisition Lead, Frontier Environments (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York, NY, United States

Salary: $182,400–$228,000 USD per year, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Map the supply side by identifying organizations that hold data for high-value AI and research domains.
• Build a thesis on which data domains are worth acquiring and how they should be prioritized.
• Develop transaction structures and pricing approaches in partnership with Legal.
• Own the acquisition cycle from cold outreach through negotiation and signature.
• Assess dataset trainability and data value while translating between commercial and Research teams.
• Turn initial hands-on acquisition work into a repeatable commercial pipeline.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience across business development, corporate development, commercial strategy, or early-stage go-to-market.
• Demonstrated success building a new commercial motion or function from the ground up.
• Strong external relationship management, business judgment, communication, and independent operating skills.
• Experience in AI, data infrastructure, marketplaces, platforms, or high-growth technology companies.
• Experience with data licensing, intellectual property, regulated data, or complex agreements involving Legal and Finance.
• Familiarity with post-training, reinforcement learning, evaluations, or synthetic data.
