Azure Systems Engineer

Location: Fully remote; occasional driving to client worksites may be required.

Starting compensation: $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, market conditions, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Design, configure, deploy, and optimize Azure infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, identity, and security services.
• Build hybrid and cloud-native environments using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, Ansible, Docker, Podman, Talos, and Kubernetes.
• Implement deployment and configuration automation with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Administer Windows and Linux systems, enterprise networks, certificates, group policies, endpoint security, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Develop migration roadmaps, lead modernization projects, assess readiness, and optimize security and performance.
• Collaborate with architects, DevOps and application teams, clients, and business stakeholders throughout Agile delivery cycles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure management, or cloud operations, including 3+ years with Azure.
• Proficiency with Azure Resource Manager, Terraform, Ansible, and Bicep.
• Hands-on experience managing Windows Server and Linux environments, Azure networking, Entra ID/AAD, security, and monitoring.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Git, PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in client-facing roles.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or DevOps Engineer Expert certification.
• Experience with Azure monitoring, governance, policy frameworks, network automation, GitOps, and observability platforms.
• Familiarity with Microsoft IoT, SQL databases, MongoDB, Quadrant, VMware vSphere, or Proxmox.
