Technical Lead, Application Development (Workday) (Workday)

Location: New York City, NY or Englewood Cliffs, NJ; hybrid with 3 days onsite

Salary: USD 150,000–180,000 yearly

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, development, deployment, and ongoing support of Workday-based Core HR and Payroll solutions.
• Define platform standards, integration patterns, technical roadmaps, and scalable SaaS and custom solutions.
• Manage end-to-end delivery, release planning, environment management, testing, CI/CD, and post-go-live support.
• Build and lead internal and contracted engineering, architecture, and delivery teams across onshore and offshore locations.
• Partner with HR, Payroll, Time, Data, Product, Architecture, Security, Privacy, and Legal stakeholders.
• Monitor operational health, resolve root causes, and ensure secure handling of HR and business data.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading medium-to-large engineering delivery teams.
• 4+ years of Workday development experience and at least one complete Workday HCM implementation in a senior lead developer capacity.
• Hands-on expertise with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Workday APIs, modern authentication, Workday Extend or Build Ecosystem, and Workday Prism data pipelines.
• Experience managing Workday scheduling tools, large integration portfolios, portal self-service configuration, and complex SaaS integrations.
• Experience delivering HR and Payroll solutions, including HR data and benefits integrations, agile delivery, CI/CD, and DevOps.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, plus strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, entertainment, or consumer-facing digital businesses.
• Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, API-first integration, WCAG, cloud platforms, React, Java, or Workday Canvas Kit.
• Interest in modernizing SaaS and custom platforms and improving developer productivity.
