Dynamics Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite position. Occasional travel is required for out-of-house testing.

Salary: $86,100–$230,472 USD per year, depending on level and qualifications.

What you will do

• Derive internal load and environmental requirements from system-level requirements.
• Support product groups with vibration and shock requirement tailoring and test verification.
• Assess vendor hardware capabilities against in-house predictions.
• Develop post-processing tools for dynamic analyses and tests.
• Build, maintain, and correlate prediction models using gathered test data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• At least 1 year of professional experience in loads and environmental prediction.
• Strong skills in frequency-domain analysis, test planning, and high-speed data processing.
• Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export-control requirements.

Nice to have

• Spacecraft or payload experience across the full system lifecycle, from concept and design through operations.
• Hands-on vibration laboratory testing experience.
• Familiarity with Femap and NASTRAN.
• Ability to explain structural dynamics concepts to other engineering functions.
• Knowledge of spacecraft launch-load environments and standards such as SMC-S-016, GSFC-STD-7000A, and MIL-STD-810G.
