TL;DR
Dynamics Engineer (Nuclear Engineering): Owning dynamics, loads, vibration analysis, and testing for nuclear fuel enrichment hardware with an accent on structural dynamic modeling, vibration and shock requirements, and cross-functional hardware integration. Focus on executing end-to-end dynamics tests, correlating models with test data, diagnosing failures, and developing hardware mitigations.

Salary: $125,000–$200,000 annually

What you will do

  • Define dynamics requirements and own analysis and testing using hand calculations and data analysis.
  • Execute vibration and shock testing from pre-test planning through sensor installation, testing, signal processing, and model correlation.
  • Use test data to guide hardware design, performance, cost, and manufacturability decisions.
  • Investigate test failures, perform root-cause analysis, and develop hardware mitigations.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on design objectives.
  • Integrate dynamics work with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, nuclear, materials, and physics teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of mechanical engineering experience through project work, research, internships, or professional experience.
  • At least 1 year of structural dynamic analysis or modeling experience using FEA tools such as Ansys, Femap, Nastran, Abaqus, or LS-Dyna.
  • Exceptional ability demonstrated through prior projects, portfolios, or completed products.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.

Nice to have

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience analyzing data or building hardware.
  • Experience with vibration and shock testing.
  • Proficiency with FEA, simulation, and CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Experience performing trade studies and making recommendations using first-principles engineering.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, highly technical, or entrepreneurial engineering environment.
