What you will do

• Determine critical loads for launch, deployment, on-orbit operation, and ground handling.
• Generate engine-borne forcing functions and define vibration, acoustic, and shock environments.
• Develop and improve finite element models of primary structures and mechanisms.
• Develop and integrate Craig-Bampton reduced models for launch vehicle integration.
• Generate rigid-body deployment simulations and validate them through testing.
• Analyze and direct dynamic testing from pre-test analysis through post-test correlation, while communicating results to engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in structural dynamic analysis of high-performance systems.
• Proficiency with an industry-standard structural FEA package such as Femap, Patran, NASTRAN, ANSYS, or Abaqus.
• Experience solving structural dynamic or vibration-driven problems, including time- and frequency-domain analysis.
• Proficiency with Matlab, Python, or similar applications, plus CAD software.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or person eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in engineering or a related field involving numerical methods.
• 6+ years of hands-on dynamic structural testing experience, including random vibration, acoustics, sine vibration, sine burst, shock, and modal survey.
• Experience with sensor selection, test parameter selection, data analysis, launch vehicle loads, VA One, or launch vehicle and satellite development.
• Startup or agile development experience.
