Spacecraft Dynamics Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, United States; in-person work at the Playa Vista office

Salary: $136,000–$220,000 annual base salary, excluding additional benefits.

What you will do

• Own dynamic and loads analysis across spacecraft components, subsystems, and complete vehicles.
• Develop load cases and environmental requirements for quasi-static, random vibration, shock, and acoustic conditions.
• Predict vehicle response across launch, deployment, and on-orbit operations using finite element and analytical methods.
• Build coupled spacecraft and launch vehicle models and evaluate loads, margins, and system behavior.
• Plan and execute vibration and mode survey tests, process test and flight data, and correlate analytical models.
• Develop Python, MATLAB, or similar tools while partnering with design, test, manufacturing, and systems teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering field.
• 8+ years of experience in structural dynamics, loads, or environmental prediction.
• Strong knowledge of vibration, shock, transient response, frequency-domain analysis, linear algebra, numerical methods, and dynamic system modeling.
• Experience with finite element modeling and analysis using NASTRAN, FEMAP, or similar tools.
• Experience processing and correlating telemetry, test, or flight data, including high-speed data and signal processing.
• Ability to communicate complex dynamics concepts across engineering teams and provide technical leadership.

Nice to have

• Spacecraft or launch vehicle coupled loads analysis experience.
• Hands-on vibration, shock, or mode survey testing experience.
• Familiarity with GSFC, MIL-STD, or similar industry standards.
• Experience with flexible body dynamics, separation events, or analysis workflow automation.
