TL;DR
Trade Compliance Specialist (Customs and Import Compliance): Supporting import documentation, customs brokerage coordination, tariff classification, and compliance data management for global company divisions with an accent on U.S. import regulations, HTSUS, and country-of-origin rules. Focus on monitoring customs clearance, maintaining audit-ready records, and conducting post-entry compliance reviews across ERP systems.

Location: Hybrid in Deerfield, Illinois, with reporting to the headquarters Tuesday through Thursday and remote work available Monday and Friday.

Salary: $56,000–$85,000 USD annually, plus participation in an annual bonus plan or role-based sales incentive plan.

What you will do

  • Prepare and review import documentation for compliance with CBP regulations.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to support timely shipment processing and customs clearance.
  • Support product classification using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and maintain HTS codes and country-of-origin data in ERP systems.
  • Track import shipments and maintain records in accordance with CBP requirements.
  • Participate in post-entry audits, internal compliance reviews, and trade compliance training.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to collect product information and required documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in customs compliance, logistics, or international trade.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. import regulations and HTSUS.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with customs brokers or freight forwarders.
  • Knowledge of free trade agreements, country-of-origin rules, or duty drawback programs, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice to have

  • Customs Broker License obtained or in progress.
  • Willingness to develop within the trade compliance field.
