Specialist, Customs (Automotive)

Location: Based at the hirify.global location in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; in-person collaboration and occasional travel are required.

Salary: $90,000–$112,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing electric pickup trucks and rugged SUVs, including all-electric and range-extender powertrains.

What you will do

• Manage daily import and export customs obligations and ensure timely clearance.
• Classify imported and exported items accurately using HTSUS requirements.
• Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, foreign suppliers, and freight forwarders on customs entries and clearance issues.
• Audit import and export entries, report findings, and identify compliance risks.
• Monitor customs regulations and work with management to implement corrective actions, policies, and procedures.
• Prioritize work in a dynamic environment and collaborate with internal departments to provide effective customer service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of import and export trade operations experience.
• Knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and Mexican import and export regulations, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and participating government agencies.
• Proficiency in HTSUS classification, preferably in the automotive industry, and experience with country of origin, free trade agreements, foreign trade zones, and valuation.
• Experience using ACE for import and export operations, as well as SAP and ONESOURCE.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, writing, interpersonal, and customer relationship skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• U.S. Customs Brokers License or Certified Customs/Export Specialist certification.
• Knowledge of logistics operations.
