Engineering Manager (Electronics Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; production-floor environment with standard PPE and ESD controls. Occasional travel to suppliers, customers, or other company sites may be required.

Salary: $145,000–$180,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary site engineering organization supporting circuit card assembly production and new product introductions.
• Define, document, and optimize SMT, through-hole, conformal coating, soldering, AOI/X-ray inspection, and in-circuit and functional test processes.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for yield, reliability, and field failures using 8D, DMAIC, and 5 Whys.
• Implement SPC, capability studies, Cp/Cpk analysis, DOE, and other data-driven methods to improve process stability and reduce variation.
• Oversee equipment qualification, maintenance strategies, capital projects, tooling and fixture design, and engineering budgets.
• Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, program management, design engineering, and customers on technical issues and escalations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of manufacturing or engineering experience in electronics or circuit card assembly.
• Hands-on experience with SMT pick-and-place and reflow, through-hole soldering, AOI, X-ray, and ICT, flying-probe, or functional testing.
• Experience managing engineering teams in a manufacturing environment and developing supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
• Strong problem-solving, data analysis, SPC, DOE, and process capability analysis skills.
• Familiarity with IPC standards, ESD controls, lean and continuous-improvement principles, and cross-functional customer communication.

Nice to have

• IPC certifications such as IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or IPC CID.
• Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other regulated quality systems.
• Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
• Experience managing capital projects and equipment qualifications in a circuit card assembly environment.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or other highly regulated electronics manufacturing.
