TL;DR
Engineering Continuous Improvement & Process Manager (Aerospace): Establishing and improving global engineering processes, standards, metrics, audits, and deployment programs across aircraft engineering organizations with an accent on process governance, Lean principles, and regulatory compliance. Focus on leading a portfolio of improvement projects, managing process engineers, coordinating geographically dispersed stakeholders, and implementing controls aligned with AS9100D, AS9145, ARP4754A, DO-178, and DO-254.

Location: Onsite in Buffalo, NY; the position may also be located at another hirify.global location, preferably East Aurora, NY.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 annually

What you will do

  • Manage the Engineering Project & Process Group, including staff development, team goals, recruiting, and budget recommendations.
  • Establish and improve global engineering processes, standard work, governance frameworks, effectiveness metrics, and control systems.
  • Lead process audits, create process maps and control matrices, and report assurance results to engineering leadership.
  • Plan and execute process deployment initiatives, including training, communications, coaching, and adoption support.
  • Manage a portfolio of improvement projects, leading project engineers across scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and delivery.
  • Maintain engineering process documentation, metrics, audit reports, templates, and training materials in central repositories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10 years of design and development engineering experience, including at least 3 years in management or supervision, or equivalent.
  • Experience facilitating broad change initiatives and prioritizing multiple projects across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience working collaboratively in multicultural, geographically dispersed environments and coaching teams through problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across staff levels, customers, and suppliers.
  • Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field.
  • Project leadership experience in large-scale business process development and improvement.
  • Lean, Design for Six Sigma, or Advanced Product Quality Planning certification.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, Subversion, JIRA, Connect, or SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of AS9100D, AS9145, ARP4754A, DO-178, and DO-254.
