TL;DR
Director, Supplier Industrialization Engineering (Aerospace): Building and leading supplier development engineering capabilities for the Terran R rocket production program with an accent on supplier qualification, quality systems, and manufacturing readiness. Focus on managing supplier risk, deploying APQP/PPAP/FAIR processes, improving supplier performance, and aligning Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; willingness to travel up to 50% of the work week when needed

Salary: $195,000–$293,000 USD per year, plus equity

What you will do

  • Build and lead a high-performing Supplier Development Engineering team.
  • Set and execute the supplier development strategy, reliability roadmap, and Supplier Quality Management System processes for Terran R.
  • Establish supplier performance metrics and scorecards to improve PPM, yield, PPAP timing, and supplier capability.
  • Own major supplier risk escalations and guide structured problem solving, including 8D, for quality and capacity issues.
  • Align Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams on supplier qualification, technical requirements, and NPI execution.
  • Oversee supplier qualification, APQP, DFM/DFA, PPAP/FAIR approvals, and Lean/Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or related Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in Supplier Industrialization, Supplier Development, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience in aerospace or another high-reliability or safety-critical industry.
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Expert knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 and quality tools including APQP, PPAP, FAIRs, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Ability to build processes from the ground up and deploy them across diverse teams.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ CMQ/OE, or PMP certification.
  • Experience with high-volume inspection methods and data-driven acceptance methods.
  • Knowledge of PLM, ERP, MES, and data analysis.
