Mechanical Engineering Manager (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR requirements.

Annual salary: $160,000–$220,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical engineering function across product design, prototyping, build, testing, qualification, and production handoff.
• Manage, hire, develop, and retain mechanical design, build, and test engineers.
• Set standards for design reviews, qualification testing, design for manufacturability, drawings, GD&T, FEA, specifications, and risk assessments.
• Drive development of valves, regulators, solenoids, actuators, pistons, switches, avionics hardware, and power electronics mechanical packaging.
• Lead qualification campaigns, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and hardware iterations using the in-house R&D lab and protoshop.
• Partner with electrical engineering, program management, senior leadership, and customers on product roadmaps, requirements, thermal management, packaging, connectorization, and environmental sealing.

Requirements

• Substantial mechanical engineering experience with aerospace or defense hardware from concept through flight qualification and production.
• Demonstrated success leading engineering teams and developing strong technical talent.
• Deep experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, structural design, mechanisms, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing avionics or power electronics hardware, including thermal management, EMI/EMC packaging, and ruggedized enclosures.
• Experience with Siemens NX or an equivalent CAD package, FEA tools, and test instrumentation; familiarity with MIL-STD-810, DO-160, and other aerospace qualification frameworks.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR, meaning a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected person.
