Vehicle Engineering Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Hawthorne, California; onsite

Salary: $166,000–$187,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead an interdisciplinary Vehicle Engineering team through design, production support, and mission operations.
• Create systems-level vehicle layouts and architectures that comply with design requirements.
• Manage schedules, development milestones, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Design mechanical-system concepts and perform first-order, finite-element, thermal, and related analyses.
• Prepare and review design materials for DCR, PDR, CDR, and other milestones, approving design-unit progression.
• Manage quality objectives, audits, documented information, AS9100 activities, training, and performance reviews for direct reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical systems engineering experience and 3+ years leading engineering teams.
• Experience with CAD software for part modeling and development; NX is preferred.
• Experience with finite-element modeling and analysis, design for manufacturing, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Experience interfacing with thermal requirements and analyses, as well as avionics and software for applications such as actuator motor control.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a STEM-related field.
• Experience engineering structures, mechanisms, and actuators.
• Experience planning and executing flight-hardware development programs from the ground up.
• Experience specifying and executing hardware qualification and acceptance test programs.
