Senior Software Engineer (Go/C)

Location: Hybrid in Atlanta, Austin, Denver, New York, Seattle, or Washington D.C. Candidates progressing to the offer stage may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

Salary: $168,000–$210,000 annual salary for Denver-based hires; $185,000–$231,000 annual salary for Washington D.C., New York, and Seattle-based hires. Compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Develop new features for Quicksilver, a large-scale distributed key-value store, using Go.
• Review pull requests and contribute to robust, maintainable systems.
• Optimize CPU usage, memory usage, and overall system performance.
• Improve monitoring systems and operational tools written in Go.
• Debug and investigate difficult-to-reproduce problems across multiple software layers.
• Support deployment, rollback, operations, alerting, and on-call activities.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience building robust systems with strong code quality and performance.
• Experience with storage systems, peer-to-peer systems, large-scale distributed systems, or system programming.
• Ability to investigate issues across multiple layers of a software stack.
• Strong autonomy, pragmatism, and ability to design simple solutions for complex problems.
• Interest in both low-level and high-level programming; Quicksilver uses Go and C.
• Willingness to respond to outages during antisocial hours and participate in on-call operations.
