Senior Software Engineer (Distributed Systems)

Location: Hybrid workplace in Boston, Massachusetts, or New York, New York, USA

Salary: $192,000–$240,000 USD per year, plus equity and possible variable compensation

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate foundational distributed systems in production.
• Build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions for multi-tenant environments.
• Develop real-time data pipelines that ingest, store, analyze, and query billions of events per second.
• Write production software in Go, Java, Rust, C++, and other languages.
• Use Kafka, Redis, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and other open-source components.
• Own meaningful parts of services and improve their reliability, performance, and operability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Significant backend programming experience in Go, Java, Rust, C++, or another comparable language.
• Experience solving problems involving high durability, low latency, and performance.
• Ability to work at a low level when needed and design simple, efficient systems.
• BS, MS, PhD in a scientific field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools, validate their output, and refine AI-generated code.
