Director, Platform Engineering - CIAM

Salary: $135,200–$236,600 per year, plus incentive eligibility

What you will do

• Define and execute the multi-year engineering strategy and roadmap for enterprise CIAM, authentication, and authorization platforms.
• Lead the modernization of authorization frameworks covering ReBAC, ABAC, RBAC, Zanzibar-style architectures, and Policy-as-Code.
• Oversee the architecture, development, deployment, reliability, security, and continuous improvement of reusable identity services.
• Drive adoption of standardized APIs, SDKs, integration patterns, policy and entitlement services, and self-service capabilities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering leaders and teams while establishing engineering standards, metrics, and operational practices.
• Manage budgets, resource allocation, roadmap prioritization, and collaboration with technology, product, security, business, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7 or more years of relevant experience, including progressive software engineering leadership responsibilities.
• Experience leading platform engineering, identity and access management, security engineering, or core infrastructure teams in SaaS, healthcare, or highly regulated technology environments.
• Deep knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML.
• Experience implementing fine-grained authorization models, including ReBAC, ABAC, RBAC, Zanzibar-style architectures, OPA, or Cedar.
• Experience building reusable platform services, APIs, SDKs, integration patterns, or developer enablement capabilities.
• Strong cloud-native engineering experience with Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, API design, event-driven architectures, observability, and modern software delivery practices.
