Engineering Manager (IAM)

Location: Remote within the United States; flexible remote/hybrid work is available, with an office in Dallas, Texas.

Salary: $156,000–$195,000 annually, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Lead the IAM engineering team while remaining hands-on, spending approximately 20% of the time writing production code.
• Design and evolve authentication and authorization services for multi-tenant enterprise customers.
• Build automated user provisioning and de-provisioning, token strategies, access policies, and partner integrations.
• Own service quality, observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, on-call health, and technical debt remediation.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop engineers while setting expectations and managing performance.
• Set the IAM technical roadmap, communicate risks and progress, and connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software experience, including 1+ year managing software engineers while remaining hands-on.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Professional experience with Go or another statically typed backend language with a path to Go.
• Production experience with cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes or a comparable container orchestration platform, relational databases, and ANSI SQL.
• Experience designing distributed systems and APIs using Docker and tools such as Protocol Buffers, OpenAPI, or Swagger.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Auth0, Okta, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs, RBAC, ABAC, or policy-based access control.
• Experience with multi-tenant IAM, enterprise SSO, SAML 2.0, OIDC, SCIM, provisioning, and regulated-industry audit requirements.
• Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools; Claude Code is preferred, with Cursor or GitHub Copilot also relevant.
