Senior Director, Platform Engineering (AI)

Location: Fully remote within the United States or hybrid at hirify.global hubs in Brooklyn, NY; Washington, DC; Boston, MA; or San Francisco, CA

Salary: $295,000–$345,000 USD annual base salary

What you will do

• Set multi-year technical strategy and reference architecture for Platform Engineering, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and developer tooling.
• Lead Cloud Engineering, Developer Experience, Site Reliability, and DevSecOps / Release Engineering organizations.
• Drive developer acceleration through improvements to monorepo workflows, build systems, testing, deployment frequency, and developer productivity metrics.
• Lead the AI-first and agent-first transformation of software development, integrating coding agents and AI-assisted tools into development, review, testing, and release workflows.
• Own production reliability, observability, incident management, infrastructure performance, security, and cloud cost efficiency.
• Recruit, coach, and develop engineers and managers while partnering with product, engineering, security, data science, commercial, and vendor teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience developing or managing complex engineering systems, including substantial ownership of platform engineering, developer experience, or build/test/release pipelines.
• Experience building and scaling platform or developer experience organizations and leading managers and senior engineers.
• Direct hands-on experience with AI-assisted and agentic development, including coding harnesses, coding agents, AI-first workflows, governance, testing, and guardrails.
• Deep expertise with CI/CD systems and experience scaling them in large monorepos.
• Production experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker; Kubernetes; and Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Strong software engineering, architecture, leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, plus experience supporting fast-paced ML/AI-enabled products.

Nice to have

• Experience across multiple clouds or isolated, air-gapped, and compliance-constrained environments such as FedRAMP or SOC 2.
