Moonshot Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $144,000–$307,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Identify, explore, analyze, prototype, and realize high-impact ideas in space and adjacent technologies.
• Own several moonshot projects from ambiguous initial concepts through prototype validation, product design, and production scaling.
• Provide technical leadership and organize contributions from multidisciplinary lab members.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis, part design, prototype builds, and testing.
• Manage vendors, purchase orders, timelines, and expectations required to deliver projects.
• Contribute to additional moonshots through technology exploration and engineering execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing and delivering complex systems or products.
• Technical depth in one core discipline, such as mechanical, electrical, or software engineering.
• Experience leading technical projects, navigating ambiguity, and coordinating people and efforts.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work across disciplines and challenge ideas constructively.
• Hands-on design, build, and test experience with hardware and/or software for prototyping.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering tangible hardware or products in highly open-ended or ambiguous environments.
• Experience in early-phase hardware and software technology exploration or innovation labs.
