Sr. Electrical Construction Project Engineer

What you will do

• Own the full lifecycle of electrical construction projects, including substations, transformers, switchgear, BESS, UPS, generators, and data-center power distribution.
• Manage multi-discipline construction projects across field and office environments, including scheduling, cost control, contractor management, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with contractors, fabricators, OEMs, utilities, architects, internal customers, facilities, and operations teams.
• Resolve high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage design and construction conflicts in the field.
• Coordinate permitting, utility interconnection, environmental approvals, equipment delivery, installation, testing, energization, and turnover.
• Develop approaches for electrical space allocation, power-capacity planning, load growth, and utility planning across the Memphis campus.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or a related field; other engineering or construction-management degrees may be considered with strong electrical experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in electrical construction, power systems engineering, substations, data-center electrical infrastructure, BESS, or facilities electrical management.
• Ability to work at heights of 200+ feet and around energized or high-voltage equipment with appropriate training and PPE.
• Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 lbs. and work around outdoor conditions, fumes, odors, noise, and electrical hazards.
• Availability for extended hours and weekends when required by site operations and commissioning needs.
• Valid driver’s license; occasional travel to other project sites may be required.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of experience with high-voltage substations, medium-voltage distribution, data-center electrical systems, or BESS construction and project management.
• Electrical Professional Engineer license.
• Experience managing large-scale electrical, data-center, industrial, manufacturing, or power-facility projects.
• Knowledge of jurisdictional permitting, utility interconnection, and environmental-agency processes.
• Experience reviewing electrical shop drawings, one-lines, protection schemes, fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
