TL;DR
Cyber Security Development Engineer (Cybersecurity): Designing and implementing secure software, systems, and infrastructure for mission-critical U.S. defense environments with an accent on vulnerability assessment, secure coding, DevSecOps, and security controls. Focus on developing machine learning models for anomaly detection and threat hunting, investigating incidents, and meeting DoD security requirements.

Location: Fully onsite in Arlington, Virginia, United States. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary: $90,000–$184,000 per year, with ranges of $90,000–$150,000 and $114,000–$184,000 depending on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and implement security controls and features for software applications and systems.
  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests across software and infrastructure.
  • Automate security tools and processes and integrate DevSecOps practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Design, implement, and train machine learning models for anomaly detection, behavioral analysis, and proactive threat hunting.
  • Fortify systems and maintain compliance with DoD security standards and requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or another STEM field, or equivalent full-time professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing, developing, and managing complex software systems for the DoD.
  • Security+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification.
  • Strong proficiency in C++, Java, or Python.
  • Advanced knowledge of firewalls, Linux, databases, operating system security, cloud infrastructure, secure coding, encryption, authentication, identity management, and secure API design.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required; applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or additional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, CEH, or Security+.
  • Experience securing Docker and Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn and securing AI/ML pipelines.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, STIGs, or the MITRE ATLAS framework.
