Information Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: McLean, Virginia; onsite 5 days per week

Base salary: $115,000–$118,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Build and scale internal security systems for monitoring and defending against modern attacker techniques.
• Analyze security data from security products, logging devices, and endpoint monitors.
• Design and implement detection technologies to identify anomalies and vulnerabilities across hirify.global systems.
• Conduct infrastructure asset risk analysis and provide remediation or mitigation recommendations.
• Execute security engineering projects that improve intrusion detection, scanning, testing, and response capabilities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity Engineering, or Computer Engineering with a strong academic record.
• Progressive internship, co-op, or academic project experience in cybersecurity engineering or threat analysis.
• Hands-on programming or scripting experience with Java, Python, or C/C++.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate professionally.
• Must work onsite in the McLean, Virginia office 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, and DHCP.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux/Unix administration and security practices.
• Knowledge of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and modern network security architectures.
• Fluency in AI and LLMs and practical experience using AI tools.
• Leadership experience in student organizations, clubs, or team-based activities.
