AI Solutions Engineer (Generative AI)

Location: Onsite, at least 5 days per week, based in Arlington, VA; San Diego, CA; or Mount Laurel, NJ

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 or $114,000–$184,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and education

What you will do

• Apply AI technologies to improve productivity, automation, and decision-making across engineering and business functions.
• Research, prototype, and evaluate AI tools, frameworks, and platforms for operational challenges.
• Implement AI-enabled solutions that integrate with existing workflows, systems, and development processes.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, program management, compliance, and business stakeholders to define problems and deliver practical solutions.
• Support organizational adoption through guidance, demonstrations, knowledge sharing, and recommendations on emerging AI trends.
• Ensure AI solutions meet security, compliance, usability, reliability, and maintainability requirements in sensitive and classified environments.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software or technical experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Strong experience applying modern AI technologies, especially large language models, generative AI tools, and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Experience designing and implementing AI-enabled technical solutions, rapidly evaluating technologies, and defining requirements independently.
• Experience with secure software development, AI security considerations, security compliance environments, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Naval tactical systems such as Aegis, SSDS, or SLQ-32.
• Experience with MLOps, model lifecycle management, monitoring, and CI/CD or DevSecOps integration.
• Experience deploying AI-enabled applications to production and working with generative AI, LLM, or NLP technologies.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-53, DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework processes, or AI compliance frameworks.
• Defense, government, mission-critical, emerging-technology evaluation, or change-management experience.
