Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Norfolk, VA area, United States. The role is 80–100% embedded with customers and may involve classified or constrained environments. US citizenship or Green Card status is required, along with a US Department of Defense or Intelligence TS/SCI clearance.

Salary: $185,000–$260,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Embed with customer teams to understand mission workflows, pain points, and operational constraints.
• Design, build, prototype, and iterate on custom applications and agentic AI workflows.
• Translate ambiguous requirements from technical and non-technical users into practical implementations.
• Integrate workflows with enterprise systems such as Microsoft O365, Palantir Foundry, Databricks, ServiceNow, and Atlassian.
• Build lightweight UI components, support deployment and troubleshooting, and iterate on solutions in the field.
• Collect product feedback and collaborate with product engineering and agentic solution teams to improve the platform.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solution Engineering, or similar customer-facing technical roles.
• Experience shipping full-stack applications or prototypes in production or near-production environments.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar scripting languages.
• Ability to build simple UI/UX with tools such as Node.js, Next.js, or React.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems and solving ambiguous problems autonomously.
• 4+ years supporting military, intelligence, or defense-related environments; US citizenship or Green Card status and TS/SCI clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience building or deploying AI/ML systems, especially agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with n8n, Palantir Foundry, or other workflow and automation platforms.
• Experience evaluating AI system performance, interpreting results, and using product telemetry or usage analytics.
• Experience in early-stage or high-growth startup environments.
