AEGIS Senior Systems Engineer (Defense)

Location: 100% onsite in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, United States. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

Salary: $135,000–$273,000 per year, with additional pay ranges of $135,000–$231,000 and $164,000–$273,000 depending on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Design and develop complex real-time sea-based weapon systems.
• Communicate detailed system specifications and refactor combat system designs for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
• Lead software development subject to rigorous certification and validation processes.
• Direct testing and rearchitecting activities as defense programs evolve.
• Execute complex system stress tests and use Cameo, MagicDraw, or IBM Rhapsody to model weapon system behavior.
• Analyze probabilistic combat system performance measures and mentor junior engineering staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer, electrical, systems, or industrial engineering, physics, mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of professional experience in systems engineering or related technical roles.
• Documented experience as the lead engineer for a technical program or project.
• Familiarity with systems engineering and modeling concepts, including Cameo, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody.
• Proficiency in at least two of C++, Java, Python, and MATLAB.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Aegis Combat System or the U.S. Missile Defense System.
• Advanced STEM degree, radar or digital signal processing knowledge, and experience with IBM DOORS or SysML.
• Knowledge of probabilistic combat system performance measures such as PD, PES, and PK.
• Experience applying AI or ML to technical problems and using AI agents for recompiling tasks.
