Chemical Technician, Staff

What you will do

• Prepare metal, ceramic, glass, and other inorganic material samples through cutting, drilling, grinding, acid digestion, and dilution.
• Analyze samples using oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen analyzers, carbon and sulfur determinators, particle size analyzers, ICP-OES, OES, and combustion analyzers.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment.
• Record test data and observations accurately in datasheets and LIMS.
• Support analytical method development and validation under the guidance of senior chemists.
• Follow safety procedures and support quality assurance initiatives and internal audits.

Requirements

• Associate degree.
• 1–3 years of laboratory experience preferred, particularly in materials testing or analytical laboratories.
• Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and laboratory information management systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures.
• Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work at the Lansing, New York location.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 17025 or other quality management systems.
• Knowledge of metallurgy, materials science, or metals chemistry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and LIMS.
