Π’Π΅ΠΊΡΡ:
TL;DR
Chemical Process Engineer (Nuclear Power): Designing and optimizing chemical and thermal systems for a nuclear power plant with an accent on steam generation, feedwater return, process safety, and plant reliability. Focus on developing PFDs and P&IDs, leading hazard analyses, troubleshooting high-temperature and high-pressure systems, and supporting commissioning and process equipment selection.
Location: On-site in Austin, Texas; applicants must be based in the United States
Company
develops factory-fabricated microreactors for affordable, scalable, and reliable nuclear power, starting with the -1 10 MWe reactor.
What you will do
- Design and maintain process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, operating envelopes, and control philosophies.
- Support the design, optimization, and safe operation of steam generation, feedwater return, heat transfer, condensate, and utility systems.
- Lead or support process hazard analyses, management of change reviews, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Improve energy efficiency, emissions, waste, operating costs, plant uptime, equipment performance, and process stability.
- Provide technical support for startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning, plant modifications, and capital projects.
- Evaluate and select process equipment, support vendor and contractor reviews, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, EHS, controls, and project teams.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 5β10+ years of relevant engineering experience in power generation, petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, or similar industrial operations.
- Strong knowledge of chemical process principles, thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and mass transfer, with experience troubleshooting industrial process systems in a plant environment.
- Experience with process safety practices such as HAZOP, PHA, MOC, and root cause analysis, plus the ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, and engineering specifications.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Must be based in the United States and willing to work on-site in Austin, TX. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons compliant with 10 CFR Part 810 and may not hold non-compliant foreign citizenships.
Nice to have
