What you will do

• Support commissioning and startup activities for the new plant, including developing plans and creating operational documentation.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment operability/quality issues to identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Monitor operations to identify improvement opportunities regarding safety, regulatory compliance, efficiency, and throughput.
• Provide engineering support for capital and expense projects, including material/energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment sizing.
• Optimize throughput and costs by focusing on waste minimization and energy consumption.
• Lead RCA investigations and participate in management of change, PSSRs, and PHAs.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in chemical process design or a regulated chemical manufacturing environment.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Suffolk, Virginia, USA.
• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to safety and environmental requirements (EPA, RCRA, DOT, and OSHA).

Nice to have

• Experience with Pi and Delta V/DCS software.
• Deep understanding and experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
