Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Vault (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, United States; hybrid work is available for candidates in the El Dorado Hills, California or Chicago, Illinois metro areas.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for Vault web applications using Playwright and related frameworks.
• Design end-to-end automation strategies for application workflows and automate manual scenarios through API-driven and UI-based testing.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and cross-browser testing across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and other supported environments.
• Investigate test failures, logs, defects, and application behavior to identify root causes and verify fixes.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD workflows and contribute to test architecture, coding standards, and automation best practices.
• Collaborate with software engineers, security engineers, SRE, Product, and QA teams to improve testability, coverage, and product quality.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in SDET, test automation, software engineering, or a related technical testing role.
• Strong programming or test automation experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining end-to-end automated tests with Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of test automation design, code quality, maintainable architecture, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Experience testing modern web applications across multiple browsers and familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL or SQL Server.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated build systems, defect tracking tools, and effective use of AI-assisted development tools.

Nice to have

• Experience testing browser extensions or Electron-based desktop applications.
• Experience with Jest, RobotJS, accessibility, performance, or reliability testing.
• Experience testing security-sensitive, identity, or cybersecurity products.
• Experience working in fast-paced SaaS environments.
